Haslett Avenue, Crawley, West Sussex

New built residential proposal of 44 social housing apartments on a redundant car park area adjacent a converted office block.

This triangular shaped site adjacent to one of the busiest roads in Crawley is in a low-rise suburban residential / commercial context. Our Client’s brief was to develop a mid-rise proposal delivering much needed social housing. We were able to push the envelope with an intelligent design that provided high quality appearance whilst being mindful of the project’s budget constraints. Using two types of brick and a simple brick detail in between broke up the massing and visually reduced the overall height. The randomised shifting of openings added interest and variety to the facades whilst we only used two standard windows types. Balconies were designed to be bolt on with external vertical supports.
