2-storey upward extension of a small corner site in South London.

The existing 2 storey building on the corner of Portland and Holland Road has been our Client’s first office before it was converted into three apartments. After unsuccessful attempts to gain approval for intensification of this site, we were appointed to develop a new proposal that provides an additional 2 apartments above the existing massing.

A contemporary reinterpretation of the original building and a thorough context analysis enabled us to propose a 2-storey addition that looks integral to the original building and also takes clues from the wider context in both materiality and detailing.
