Brownfield and Backland Sites

Despite the environmental and townscape issues, with well-considered design we managed to create over 340,000sqft new floor area and 450 apartments on disused or underutilised  sites.

"After a negative initial pre-app with another designer, Rohacs Architects acted professionally and managed to secure approval with a creative and high quality proposal that made every square inch of a difficult backland brownfield site work for us." - Jon Davis (Indigo Scott)

Our built environment puts greater and greater pressure on the limited amount of open and green space that is left, and it is becoming more important than ever to look at disused or active built sites for delivering new housing.

Our proposal behind a parade on Hook Road in Surbiton created 9 new apartments and a small office unit with a circa 85% site coverage. In Wood Green we secured approval for 17 apartments on an old industrial site behind a petrol station. We improved an existing approval from 5 to 7 units on top of a commercial unit on Lordship Lane in Dulwich.

On Haslett Avenue in Crawley, we designed a 44 unit block on a redundant car park after an office to residential conversion. In Pitsea, Basildon we submitted planning application for a 217 unit proposal on a challenging vacant commercial / logistics site wedged between the A13 dual carriage way, 2 main railway lines and an environmental management site.
