Planning approval for the redevelopment of a detached house site with an apartment block providing 10 flats.
On a site occupied by a large two storey detached house in a suburban residential context with predominantly detached houses, our Client’s Brief was to redevelop with a 3-4 storey apartment building.
After extensive consultation with the Local Council, a contemporary proposal emerged comprising two 3-storey blocks responding to the overall scale of the neighbouring buildings and following the turn in the street line. High quality units with spacious internal layout and generous daylight, careful choice of the façade brick that responds to the context, and fine detailing of the windows and facades were the key elements in securing approval for 10 apartments.
